David W.M. Kelch (Ensemble Member, Founder) hails from the small town of Waterloo, Illinois (NOT Iowa!!!). As if years of school plays and drama team competitions weren't big enough clues, he took the big leap and made theatre his passion upon attending Valparaiso University. David holds a B.A. in Theatre and Television Arts from said alma mater, having studied acting with BettyAnn Leeseberg-Lange and R. Andrew White, movement with John Szostek, and directing with Dr. John Steven Paul. Upon graduating, David moved to Chicago and continued working with Mr. Szostek and several other Valpo alums, together founding the Piccolo Theatre. Some of his past roles include: Florindo (Servant of Two Masters), Garcin (No Exit), Luigi (We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay!*), Sarnoff (Mr. Punch* and Jack and the Wild Goose Chase*), PC Holmes/Major Magnus (After Magritte/The Real Inspector Hound*), Tito Merelli (Lend Me a Tenor*), The Player (Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead*), and most recently Ali Gator in Piccolo’s Sinbad*. David also holds Advanced Actor/Combatant status in the Society of American Fight Directors from work with Chicago-area instructors Angela Bonacasa and Chuck Coyl, and is currently certified in Unarmed Combat, Knife, Rapier & Dagger, Quarterstaff, Single Sword, Broadsword, Smallsword and Broadsword and Shield.
